Data opens directly in Google Earth

All GPS data is recorded in industry standard NMEA-0183 GPS streams.  These text based files will open directly in Google Earth or any other program that accepts this universal format.

Here is a sample of the log file.  You can download it HERE. Once you unzip it, open Google Earth, go “tools”, “GPS” and select “import from file”.  Select this file and it will open on a Google Earth map.

Or you can view it in notepad or textedit as shown below:

GPS Log

Once the data is open in Google Earth, the entire route history can be viewed.

Collected data includes:

  • Date and time of recording (GMT)
  • Location
  • Heading
  • Speed
  • Altitude
  • and more
